Climate
The Ribera del Duero area has a continental Climate, with an Atlantic influence. Rainfall is scarce, with average annual levels below 500 mm, mainly concentrated in spring and autumn. Sunshine, extensive and abundant, reaches annual averages of 2,200 hours, and the River Duero favours morning mists and fogs, which offer an additional source of humidity.
The Climate is very healthy, helping to avoid fungi or insect induced diseases, which are indeed few and far between. The vineyards’ worst enemies are the spring frosts and the hail storms in summer.
